Ear wax irrigation in Wisbech – at our clinic or in your own home

Ear irrigation for heavy ear wax build up
Here at Jatec, we offer a range of professional ear cleaning services from our Wisbech clinic or at your own home within a 15 mile radius. Ear irrigation is ideal for the removal of larger quantities of ear wax, which might lead to significant symptoms, including:
- Hearing problems, including tinnitus
- Pain, itchiness or earache
- Ears feeling blocked or ‘full’
- Nausea, dizziness or vertigo
- Unpleasant discharge or odour
What is ear irrigation?
Normally your body controls the amount of naturally occurring and essential ear wax, but it can sometimes build up to an excessive level, requiring treatment. Ear irrigation uses a low-pressure flow of body temperature water or saline solution directed into the ear canal – rather than directly at the obstruction – to provide a gentle flushing of excess ear wax.
Occasionally, ear syringing can cause some temporary side effects, including:
- Dizziness
- Mild discomfort
- Ringing in the ears
- Slight loss of hearing
This is completely normal and these symptoms will usually disappear within 24 hours.

Is ear irrigation the best treatment for me?
Ear irrigation is an excellent therapy for patients with a large build-up of ear wax or other debris. Traditionally ear wax syringing might have been used for patients with these symptoms, but irrigation has now mostly replaced this method of treatment, as it is seen as safer and more effective.
Our experienced team will help you to identify which treatment will be best for your based on a physical examination of your ears and your description of your symptoms. As part of your consultation, your audiologist might suggest another form of treatment if:
- You are suffering from an ear infection
- You have a perforated eardrum
- You’ve had ear tubes implanted
